Today i (Matt Gaskin, Head of the School of Architecture) am chairing the day at the Emirates Stadium, London for LEAF International.  The focus of the day is Specifying the Future of Architecture.

In the morning we have had presentations from Margot Orr of Atkins Global on building relationships with and excellent video on a master plan in Johannesburg. Christopher Chao of AECOM on flexibility with a exploration of the linkage between biology and urbanism as well as questions around global and local agendas.  Adam Preuss of va-Q-tec then talked on innovative VIP insulation - i am particularly interested in the work on Rosslyn Chapel!

Connecting Narratives: Film as Research

CONNECTING NARRATIVES: Film as research

One-day Symposium at Oxford Brookes University, 10 July 2015

‘Connecting Narratives: Film as Research’ is an interdisciplinary one-day symposium to discuss the impact of film as a research tool and as a method of communicating research. Invited internationally and nationally recognised filmmaking researchers, emerging scholars in the Faculty and industry professionals working in the fields of architecture, film production, fine arts, anthropology, public health and publishing who work with filmmaking research praxis will discuss Approaches, Methods and Publication as Film. Our Guest Speakers will debate critical methodological approaches (not journalistic) to storytelling practice in research-led filmmaking, and expand our understanding of the use of film to expand knowledge transfer beyond the University.
This symposium is organised by filmmaker-researchers, Dr. Igea Troiani (School of Architecture) and Dr. Alison Kahn (Film Production, School of Arts).
This event is sponsored by an Oxford Brookes University Central Research Fund (CRF).

It is free to attend
